Rattlesnake Ridge Elementary School is proud to celebrate Mrs. Angela Gonzales and sixth-grade student Nevaeh Larson as recipients of the Southern Arizona Education Council Award, recognizing their outstanding impact on their school community.

Mrs. Gonzales is described by colleagues as an exceptional teacher who builds strong, trusting relationships with students, encouraging them to take risks and “try hard things.” Her ability to support all learners, whether advanced, in need of intervention, or developing English skills, helps students thrive and achieve academic growth. Beyond the classroom, she has made a district-wide impact through her work on the sixth-grade curriculum committee, leadership of student council and assemblies, and by expanding empowered teaching practices across campus.

Nevaeh Larson is recognized for her energy, leadership, and positivity. A dedicated student, she works hard toward her goals and uplifts those around her. She has led the school song at assemblies through her involvement in choir and launched a mentorship effort during recess, organizing games and promoting positive interactions for kindergarten students. Her initiative has grown to include other sixth graders and has contributed to a noticeable decrease in discipline issues and nurse visits.

Both were honored at an Evening to Empower Education, an occasion celebrating service to education across Tucson and greater Pima County. Mrs. Gonzales and Nevaeh exemplify the heart of Rattlesnake Ridge, making a lasting difference through leadership, compassion, and commitment.
